Self Love & Care
When was the last time you spent time on yourself? Just you, for you? Taking a little bit longer to think of a time than you thought it would?!
We tend to put everyone and everything else ahead of looking after the most important person – you. If you are feeling your most vital, energetic, loving self, then the people around you are receiving the benefits.
Take time this week to pamper yourself – as well as pampering your body, you need to pamper your mind. Discover what it is that keeps you functioning at your best and include this on your “to do” list. Whatever it is, schedule it in and think of it as the most important bullet point on your list this week, and every week thereafter, without the feelings of guilt and anxiety about looking after yourself.
Go for a walk in nature, see a movie with a friend, buy flowers for yourself, schedule in a weekly walk with a friend, mindfulness training, curl up with a book, book in a massage, paint a picture, write a story, take part in a pottery class, attend a book club, or treat yourself to some positive affirmations – crowd out the negative thoughts that tend to creep in when unwanted.
Positive affirmations can be a powerful tool in your journey to self-love and care. They have the ability to break the lifelong negatives thoughts and beliefs that take up valuable space in your mind and replace them with positive thoughts/feelings and actions.
Negative thoughts will not go away overnight, and if they are not acknowledged or observed they will continue to be the backbone of your beliefs and actions. Mindfulness allows us the opportunity to willingly observe our thoughts and discover where they came from and why. Only when we acknowledge, can we truly commence our journey to changing our beliefs, habits and our awareness of the importance of self-love.
Some positive affirmations below to get you started:
- I am enough
- I accept myself unconditionally right now
- Happiness is a choice. I base my happiness on my own accomplishments and the blessings I’ve been given.
- I am courageous and I stand up for myself
- This is my life, and I am the driver
- Today, I abandon my old habits and take up new, more positive ones
- Today, I will let myself shine
Write these, or your own words, on a sticky note and place it on your bathroom mirror. When you look at yourself, say the words AND smile at your reflection. Show yourself you MEAN what you say.
Self-love and care are more than spending time doing something for you. It is showing you that you care about yourself and that you are worthy of living a life in full bloom. It is also about showing kindness to your body and soul by nourishing it with ingredients including what you eat, how you move, how you think and what you believe.
We now run 14-Day self-care challenges in our Facebook Group – YOUR Life in Full Bloom. We would love for you to join in.
You are the embodiment of loveliness, be kind to yourself and bloom!
